Aunque Boyero había anticipado su renuncia en muchos meses al intendente Carlos Linares, e incluso venía «aguantando» el relevo, los últimos allanamientos realizados a varias dependencias municipales, incluida la Secretaría de Infraestructura, aceleraron su salida. Algunas versiones incluso no descartan que las investigaciones ordenadas por la jueza federal Eva Parcio, pudieran haber adelantado su salida del cargo.
