En el acto central por el 42° Aniversario de la Gesta de Malvinas, realizado el martes en Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, el gobernador del Chubut, Ignacio Torres, dio un discurso destacando la importancia de «recordar a los veteranos de Malvinas todos los días del año, no solamente cada dos de abril».

El gobernador estuvo acompañado por el gobernador de Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur, Gustavo Melella; el gobernador de Neuquén, Rolando Figueroa; el intendente de Ushuaia, Walter Claudio Raúl Vuoto.

Estuvieron presentes senadores y diputados nacionales; legisladores provinciales; concejales locales; veteranos de Malvinas; fuerzas de seguridad; autoridades eclesiásticas; y vecinos de la zona que se acercaron a participar de la conmemoración realizada en el Monumento Héroes de Malvinas de la ciudad de Ushuaia.

También enviaron su acompañamiento los gobernadores Alberto Weretilneck, de Río Negro; Claudio Vidal, de Santa Cruz; y Sergio Ziliotto, de La Pampa.

El mandatario chubutense se mostró emocionado por la invitación y señaló que «hoy estamos acá, hermanados por la causa Malvinas, tres Gobernadores de la Patagonia, porque más allá de las diferencias, a todos nos une un mismo objetivo, una misma obligación: la defensa de nuestra soberanía nacional«.

Aseguró que «defender la patria es defender lo nuestro, es poner en valor nuestros recursos y proteger a nuestra gente. Defender la soberanía de nuestro país implica también la defensa del federalismo».

Torres afirmó que «los patagónicos estamos unidos y vamos a defender lo que es nuestro ante cualquier intento de avanzada por parte del gobierno nacional, poniendo siempre en valor al federalismo y al interior productivo del país, sin importar quiénes estén al frente de la Casa Rosada».

Asimismo, se comprometió a seguir trabajando con sus pares provinciales para «sentar las bases para que quienes vengan después sigan comprometidos con la defensa de nuestros recursos, del Mar Argentino, y de nuestra soberanía, federalismo y patria, como hicieron los héroes de Malvinas».

Destacó la importancia de garantizar que «la causa Malvinas vuelva a ser estudiada por los chicos en las escuelas, para transmitirla de generación en generación». Añadió: «De nada sirve el revanchismo revisionista que cada tanto quieren imponernos desde ciertos sectores, buscando confundir y dividir a los argentinos».

Finalmente, aseguró «es necesario mirar hacia adelante, sin vivir anclados al pasado, pero siendo plenamente conscientes de nuestra historia y la importancia de defender la soberanía nacional», invitando a «recordar y reivindicar todos los días a esos héroes de Malvinas que dejaron sus vidas por nuestra patria».
